About & Disclaimer
This design software calculates the critical temperature of a Universal Beam (Advance ® UKB) exposed to fire. The software also calculates the time to failure when the beam is unprotected.
This software is valid only for restrained beams carrying non-composite precast planks or shallow steel deck floors
The design resistance is calculated in accordance with BS EN 1993-1-1 and BS EN 1993-1-2, and the UK National Annex. The user must select the beam, the loading, the imposed load category and the protection applied.
Unprotected beams carrying a concrete floor slab, with a section factor (Am/V) less than 230m-1 are deemed to satisfy a minimum period of fire resistance of 15 minutes, which is the common requirement for open-sided car parks not more than 30m in height.
Although care has been taken to ensure that the calculated resistances are correct, users should verify the output. The Steel Construction Institute and other parties associated with this software and website assume no responsibilities for errors or misuse of this software, or damage arising from use of this software
